Postojna cave & Predjama castle

You can reach Postojna cave by walk as we are located a short 10 minute walk from the cave. Postojna Cave and its exciting interior will take you on a fantastic journey beneath the surface of the Earth. Thus, it is no wonder that it has, during the 200 years since it was opened to the public, hosted over 36 million visitors from all over the world.

In addition to the two world-famous attractions, the Postojna Cave Park offers a number of other experiences, perfect for an all-day trip that you will remember for years to come.

Skocjan caves and park – a protected UNESCO heritage site

Skocjan caves and park is located a 25 min car ride from us.Explore the beauty of Skocjan caves and the park. The Škocjan Caves remain the only monument in Slovenia and the Classical Karst region on UNESCO’s list of natural and cultural world heritage sites. Thus, they hold a significant position among the world’s natural monuments.
Tip: you can combine the visit of Skocjan caves with the visit of Lipica (same area)

Lipica – the site of Slovenian pride

Located just a 25 min car ride from Postojna Lipica is one of the oldest Stud farms still in operation. In fact Lipica is operating since 1580 and is the home of the famous Lipizzaner horse! Enjoy a relaxing walk in the grounds of the Lipica Stud Farm accompanied by a friendly guide or an independent tour withThe Lipica Guide mobile application.
Get to know the cradle of the Lipizzaners – one of the oldest stud farms in the world with a tradition dating back to 1580! Visit the »on Borjača« stables where the white mares take care of their dark foals. Admire the historical centre of the stud farm and its oldest stable, Velbanca. Find out everything about Lipica and the Lipizzaner in the interactive Lipikum museum. A special experience is also the morning departure of the mares and foals to the pastures.

Park of military history Pivka

The park of military history is located just a 15 min car drive from our location. It is a new museum and tourist centre that experienced an intensive development over the last couple of years. Various museum exhibits and diverse museum collections offer the visitors a unique insight into the national history as well as the world history.
The main collection of the Park of Military History is a national tank-artillery collection that comprises tanks and cannons from the 2nd World War, from the period of the Cold War and from the Slovenian liberation war in 1991 as well as the vehicles from the Slovenian Army. The Park has also an aircraft collection; it consists of two fighter aircraft, the American turbojet fighter-bomber F-84 Thunderjet and the Romanian IAR-93 Vultur/Eagle. Aside from that, the visitors will also learn about an interesting story of the helicopter Gazelle TO-001 that happened in 1991, during the Slovenian liberation war.
The sabotage submarine P-913 Zeta is still the most attractive museum exhibit. This small, former Yugoslav submarine can also be seen from the inside. This way, the visitors can learn about the mysterious world of the submariners. A prior reservation of a guided tour of the inside of the submarine in highly recommended.
The visitors can complete their visit in the Park of Military History with a 4-hour walk on the Circular Trail of Military History or with a 1-hour walk on the thematic educational trail to the forts of the Alpine Wall on the Primož hill.
The visitors can rest and lunch in the museum restaurant Kantina Pivka.

Bike tours

Postojna and surroundings are great for bike exploring. On prior order we can arrange rental bikes. You can explore our surroundings and drive by some of the most famous caves and attractions here. A 10km ride up to the Predjama castle is a great opportunity to familiarize with local villages and see the surroundings. On the way back you can also stop to see Pivka cave. The same route takes you by our most famous cave, the Postojna cave.
